On July 31, 1904, Jacob and Helen Novecosky stepped off a boat in Quebec City, Canada. The couple, together with their children and Jacob’s elderly parents, had traveled more than 7,000 kilometres from what is now Southern Ukraine via Liverpool to Canada. They still had more than 4,000 more kilometres to go – overland to the soon-to-be new province of Saskatchewan.
Now, more than 100 years later, this website pays tribute to Jacob and Helen Novecosky whose descendants number in the thousands and span the globe. This courageous couple and their children paved the way for new generations with their blood, sweat, tears and prayers. |
